It’s been a long, uphill battle for the city of Bridgeport when it comes to attracting Starbucks. But now, it appears Bridgeport is expecting not just one, but two of the Seattle-based coffee shops to come to town in the near future, peddling PSLs in the Park City.
A couple months ago, the city announced that a shop would be opening up in Steel Point, alongside a Bass Pro and a Chipotle. And just today during a phone interview, Bridgeport’s economic development director David Kooris told us that “I think (Starbucks) would be a natural in the North End, and I have no doubt that there will be one in the North End in the near future.”
Wait. What?
We asked him to clarify: Are there plans for a Starbucks to make its way to Bridgeport’s North End?
His answer was yes. While he couldn’t give a timeline for when Bridgeport residents can expect to snag macchiatos in the city’s North End, Kooris did say “There is one in the works for the North End… There are many things that need to fall in to place, but we hope they’ll be pursuing their regulatory approvals this year.”
